New ICANN Whois validation process

According to the new regulations introduced by Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN) starting on January 1st we are sending Whois validation emails. Whois validation will only be needed for the Registrant contact information for generic TLDs (gTLDs) in the following cases:

– for new registrations;
– for registrant contact information changes on existing domains.

When a new domain is registered, we will immediately send an email to the Registrant email address specified for the domain. The verification email will be also sent if an edit is made to either of the following Registrant contact fields:

– Registrant First Name
– Registrant Last name
– Registrant Email Address

If the Registrant email is changed, the email will be sent to the new email address specified.

The verification email will come from [email protected] with the following subject: “IMMEDIATE VERIFICATION required for <domain name>. The email will contain a link you need to click on to verify your email address.
If the domain in the URL is different from the one specified above, please contact support to clarify the situation.

NB in regards to new registrations: You must verify the email address by clicking on the link within 15 calendar days after registration. If you do not verify within 15 calendar days, the domain will be suspended, the DNS of the domain name will be changed. The domain will resolve into a landing page with the instructions on how the verification can be made and, as a result, the DNS returned to the previous settings and your website restored. Additional notifications are sent 10 and 5 days prior to suspension; shortly before the suspension we are sending the final notice.

NB in regards to contact updates: You must verify the email address by clicking on the link within 7 calendar days after update. When the combination of email, first name and last name for Registrant contact is updated, the domain(s) will be added to a “queue”. This means that the updates will be visible in your Dream Line IT Solution account, but contact details will not be changed in public Whois until the verification email is approved. If you do not verify within 7 calendar days, the queue request will be cancelled. In this case the domain(s) will not be subjected to suspension, and the contact updates made in your Dream Line IT Solution account will be reversed automatically.

If you have domains in your account that are either queued for verification, or pending suspension or are already suspended, we will be sending email reminders with the link to Whois Verification page, where you will be able to see the list of the affected domains. Reminders will be send once a week on Monday to your Dream Line IT Solution account email address.

How can I check which domains should be verified?

Follow the steps below:

– Mouse over your Dram Lin IT Solution username on the black bar on the top of the page and click on Manage Domains;

– Click on Whois Verification tab in the left-side navigation bar.

The page will contain the list of affected domains (queued for verification, pending suspension or suspended) with the date of their suspension and the option to resend verification email.

NB: The update on the page may take up to 30 minutes to take full effect. Thus, after you have verified the domains you need to allow some time for the updates to be reflected.

Once the verification process is completed, all future new registrations and updates using that same Registrant contact information will be considered as verified and will not be subject to the verification process. Nonetheless, you will need to make sure that contact information is valid, up-to-date and complete and that the email address is functioning.

What about WhoisGuard?

At this time this process doesn’t affect domain names registered with WhoisGuard service and contact updates hidden behind WhoisGuard. If anything changes, we will make sure to inform you.

However, if WhoisGuard is disabled for your domain (either manually or automatically due to expiration) this would trigger the verification email as the contact details change from WhoisGuard to your own in the public Whois.

In addition to requiring complete Whois data and Registrant contact validation, ICANN has mandated that the postal address, telephone, and email address be properly formatted:

– First/ Last name should contain minimum 2 letters.
– Email address should be specified in lower case letters. @ symbol and fully qualified domain are required: [email protected]
– Phone number must contain a country code and the valid number. Please make sure you have selected proper country code and have entered valid number in your account profile. Make sure similar applies to all domain names in your account.
– Address, City and Country must be provided. Blank fields may cause the registration order to fail.
– State/ Province should be specified whenever applicable.
– Zip/ Postal code should be numeric or alphanumeric and may contain dash “-“. The format should be applicable to your country or territory.
