Is there a mailbox size that would make the stability of the mailserver at risk?
There is not a standard mailbox size that will cause problems, however bear in mind that the larger the mailbox, the higher the risk of stability issues. This does, however, depend upon how busy the mailserver is, the hardware in the server, the load that a server is under, etc … As a rule of thumb, any mailbox that is over 200MB is in danger of causing performance issues.
